Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock Update Is Live For Xbox 360 Worldwide and PS3 North America!!

Neversoft and Activision/RedOctane have been working hard on a free update for Guitar Hero III, which is available now on the Xbox 360 Worldwide and PS3 North America!  The PS3 European and Australian update has been submitted to Sony, and we will provide further updates as soon as they become available.

The update to Guitar Hero III game will include the following updates, and can be accessed by playing the game while connected to Xbox Live or Sony PSN.

* Improve Online Quick Match results and reduce "Failed to Connect to Server" messages.

* Introduce calibration screen improvements, helping users with high lag AV systems, and Playstation 3 users with Dolby Digital enabled.

* Add the Co-Op Quickplay mode for Playstation 3 users.

* Enable the Hyperspeed cheat to work in online games.

* Include various stability improvements and fixes.

As this update is rolled out, we look forward to hearing back from the community on how it works for you, so that we can continue to give you the best play experience possible.

Thanks for unlocking the topic, it makes more sense to keep comments about the update in this topic, instead of spread all over the board in other topics.

So here's my personal experience with the update (Xbox 360)

The calibration tool is handy now that I can calibrate audio and video seperately. I play on a PC monitor, with the audio running directly into a stereo, so I have visual lag (8ms) but no audio lag. The game feels much more responsive now.

I've never been one to use hyperspeed in GH3 (the default scroll rate is already faster than the default in GH2) but I tested it online and it seems to work just fine. 

 QuickMatch works pretty well flawlessly now. Previously I couldn't get it to work, period. I'm still having the odd issue with freezing while joining a game, and sometimes (but much less often) every game that appears in the list will have a single red lag bar, and be unjoinable.

I do have a suggestion for a future update too.
I'd like to see an option to back out while "Joining Game..." is displayed on the screen. Sometimes it takes up to a full minute to time out, and occasionally hangs and never actually joins. The only solution is to back out to my Xbox dashboard and restart the game. If I coud cancel the join process at any time, this wouldn't be an issue.

And finally, is it possible to have a realtime server list? Once a list is collected, I look for the game with the best lag, and attempt to join it, but quite often someone has beaten me to it and I get a "Session is no longer available" message. if a game is joined, is it possible to have it removed from the list in real time?

I agree with a lot of what Terminus said and i am impressed that neversoft actually read responded and reacted to terminus's complaint great job neversoft.

i don't know if you guys (activision and neversoft) know this, but there's gh3 out for the PC atm... and oddly enough, it's the weaker game compared to ps2, ps3, wii and 360, which shouldn't be the case AT ALL.

we have no voice chat.

we have no txt chat.

online is a pain, since sometimes it could take 1 second to join a game, or 40 minutes.

 we also have no dlc.

when we do something in the game, it doesn't upload to this site.

why did you guys make a half assed game for the pc? k thx.

I find the update for the PS3 has made playing the game much better.  The dual calibration is the most significant IMHO, and after doing it and seeing how different the audio and video lags were it explained a lot of the feeling of being disconnected from the game I and many other PS3 GH players have felt and expressed on these forums.

Guitar Hero 3 was ported to PC by a third party company. Thus the Agora mods have no intentions of supporting it on this site, and because Neversoft/RO/Activision don't play a significant role with this release, they probably won't be supporting it either.

 Which is terrible. The PC is the easiest to provide DLC for, simple to provide upgrades for, and obviously should support both text (keyboard, hello?) and voice chat to be a complete game.

I feel sorry for you all, but I guess that's what happens when a game is ported to every major console, and then the PC by a different company. 

Is this patch really available worldwide at the moment for the 360??? I never get it, and I'm Live connected (from Sweden) on a daily basis playing GH3.

Nice, the only other thing I want is a random song selctor for online multiplayer, Im sick of other players picking the same songs or getting 3 games of TFAF in one session :)

Stupid Sony needs to hurry the F up...

Why is it so hard to be all over 2 of the 3 consoles with updates and DLC?  Is Nintendo refusing to work with you guys?  I mean if Activision R.O. and Neversoft are the ones behind all the updates... AAAAND they made the game...  Why is it so flippin' hard to include Wii in this equation?  I can understand the DLC to an extent.... but updates no.  That should be there.  I mean Wii is your second biggest market for this game right?  So make some money brainiacs.

is there going to be a patch so we can use our ps3 guitar with the other GH games?

Out of all the complaints I've seen about this game, it seems as though the Wii version is the most defective.  So I'm gonna ask the obvious question here:  WHY THE F*** CAN'T WE GET AN UPDATE FOR THE WII???? 

I've had nothing but problems with it since I bought it on release day.  I saw the announcement that a fix was coming, and I patiently waited.  Now the fix comes out and it doesn't include my version.  To say that I'm irrate would be an understatement.

As for people saying they want DLC on the Wii: I'm not that excited about paying MORE money for add-ons when WHAT I ALREADY BOUGHT DOESN"T WORK RIGHT.

 The game is obviously defective.  The fact that a patch is necessary and out should serve as evidence of that.  So I don't think it should be out of the question for me to ask for my money back since they can't release a fix for my version.  This is starting to smell like a class action suit.

now can we have the update for the Wii?

There's a lot mroe wrong on the Wii than there is on 360 <_<
