How will it be judged who will play which difficulty?  I don't think it'd be fair if someone who can ace the game on expert playing on easy just to make sure they win.

I would enter the Medium tier for all.  I can pretty much FC any song on easy, but only a few on Med & that's my comfort zone (the orange note still gives me trouble).

Happiness is like peeing your pants.  Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

Wii FC - 5069-2368-6526 - I play on Med mostly, Co-op & Pro Face-Off, will battle, but not a huge fan of it.

*sigh* hart why bother... just becuase a small handfull can play hyperspeed. doesnt mean tournaments should really be useing it. Tourneys are to be fair played. and it isnt quite fair to have hyper speed in any due to some are given huge advantages or disadvantages.

Senliten, is it fair that I have to play without it? That is a disadvantage to me. I'm used to hyperspeed, others aren't.

If I use hyperspeed, I'm now on equal grounds with those that are used to playing without it.

I want it because it what I'm used to. Many others do as well.

Thing is.. one person cant use hyperspeed whiel the other doesnt.. Maybe in GH4 itil be able to let you choose for your own but thats gonig to be a crap load of planning and thoguht out suff to be done..

Many are not used to it. And so far all the tournamnets i been to. AWA's, Nerdacons, MoMocon, etc.. All have it fair to all without hyperspped. remember it is a cheat. a cheat honestly that alters the real gameplay. whjich thus is giving unfairness.

My advice is you should already be able to play normal if you can get 100% notes on Hyper 5. if not then learn to play like the mass majoirty does... and learn.. Im sorry but you want fairness for a small margin of people who use it. Yet the main populus of players dont use it..

What are you talking about? I'm talking about the online tournaments. Both players don't have to use it, just those that prefer it.

Any good player these days uses hyperspeed and won't play these tournaments because it isn't allowed.

If I can't play normal and get 100% notes on hyper 5? What?

I'm not speaking for a small margin, I would guess I'm speaking for over 50%. It isn't a CHEAT, it doesn't give you extra points or anything, it just lets your brain PROCESS things normally.

using hyperspeed in an online tournament isn't cheating, but is definatly unfair for the other party.

95% of the people here have not, or will not play on hyperspeed ever. To play a person in hyperspeed, even if it is the same difficulty is as different as playing a medium player at their level when you can play expert

i for one think playing on hyperspeed makes the game a lot easier. however when it is online it makes it a ton harder. it basically cuts off half the top of the noteboard thus making it harder to see or react to the notes coming up.

I agree completely with Hartlin, we need hyperspeed in these tournaments. And everybody i know who plays on expert plays with hyperspeed. We're already used to it, having to revert back to normal speed puts us at such a disadvantage. I'm pretty sure the majority of expert and maybe hard players use it.

IMO if you can't play without using hyperspeed you shouldn't be playing. I agree with Senliten, it is a cheat and its unfair to those of us who play normally to go against someone using hyperspeed. In GH1 there wasn't even any hyperspeed.

what if you are registered but you have a sibling who has a profile on the game.  Which profile will be used for the tournament?  I couldn't find the answer in the locked thread about this.

When I played in a large band the conductor always said to us "anyone can play music fast.  It's the sow stuff that trips everyone up.  It actually takes more skill to play slower.  Anyone can speed strum there way though, it is about control.

Hyperspeed spreads the notes out and makes them come at you faster. For songs like TTFAF, it lets you see what you're supposed to be playing better without altering the speed of the song. One person should be able to use it, but the other could have the option. That'd be best.

Whether or not Hyperspeed is called a cheat, that doesn't really make it so bad. The 360 and PS3 owners can select hyperspeed now, correct? Well, that makes it unfair for the Wii players that want to host and use it right now. No complaints though... I understand the Wii is getting an updated replacement disc in early 2008, so I'll assume it'll have essentially the same updates the other consoles got.

Thanks for the highscore tourney finally - now those of us who have a life do not necissarily have to play all day long to have a chance. However, I forsee a problem with a lot of people getting the same score, I mean sure there is some minor discrepancy, but there has got to be a maximum score that one can get. Maybe not, we shall see. What happens in the event of a tie?

And hyperspeed isn't really a "cheat" per se, at least I do not think. You still have to play the notes at the same time, they just come faster with hyperspeed to spread out some of the close together notes. Nonetheless, I can do just fine with or without it and will not complain if I am not allowed to use it. In fact, I generally only use it on faster harder songs on hard and expert, but that is about it - although only offline, I never use it online.

Are you able to do a song more than once to try to improve your score or is it one shot and you're done?

I personally, don't like the High Score tournaments. I'm really good at all the Medium mode songs, yet I did my best on 3 of the songs in a previous tourney (FC'ing all the songs) and still somehow ended up in 31st or so and down by about 75,000 points. It doesn't make much sense. And yes, I used Star Power on all the songs and was pretty sure I used it at the right times.

 Not sure what's wrong there?
